Dear respected colleagues, I ask that you recommend HB1019 Ought to Pass due to multiple factors. First, half of Granite State homes rely on private well water and many municipal water systems rely on wells as their primary water source. Second, groundwater is increasingly subject to contamination from synthetic chemicals (e.g. PFAS, MTBE) and road salt. These combined with certain metals/compounds naturally found in groundwater throughout NH: (e.g., manganese, iron, arsenic, radon) complicate the sample matrix. A water testing professional understands the array of technologies, state-of-the-art analyses and cost considerations available and would be a valuable resource for the Water Well Board.
