Charging people $50 to register a bike unwarranted and no other state is placing this burden on their residence. Most bikes are not even worth $50. What's next strollers and sneakers?

Dear Representative Thomas Walsh and committee members, NH is one of the most attractive places to live and work in the U.S. because of our low crime, good healthcare, education, and low state tax structure. In 1998, I decided to move my family and three boys to NH from NJ because of the low crime, low taxes, and good schools and healthcare. We could have moved to any New England state to raise our three boys and selected this beautiful state of NH. I'm so proud of our state and the people who live here who have been good stewards of state resources and have kept the vision alive of low taxes. Now two of my sons are married and have six grandchildren who all enjoy riding a bike in their driveway and down their neighborhood street to visit their friends house. Our family is also active bikers and utilize paths in our northern part of the state and out on Cape Cod. Fyi, Massachusetts does not tax pedal or ebikers for using their paths on the Cape. We frequently stop to buy ice cream or food at the local general store that sits along the bike path. imagine thousands of people each summer not using bike paths and visiting their local stores. It will hurt hotels, restaurants, and businesses. Taxing both in-state and out-of-state visitors a $50 per trip or annual Bike tax will dramatically reduce our strong travel and tourism revenues. It will hurt businesses that depend on revenues from Bike visitors who travel on bike paths. It will affect every 5 year old child who wants to learn how to ride a bike at home. This bill will damage our communities and local businesses. Alternatively, I do support an out-of-state tax on motorbikes. Motorbikes are Lowd, smelly, and don't represent wholesome family values. Thomas, your bill to tax family's and visitors of manual pedal and ebikes shows a total lack of caring about people who love to ride a bike. It's aggreges and destructive to NH and our communities. Our state motto is "live free or die" We stand apart from other states because we have built something special here in NH. Your bill will shift NH to be a high tax state. The bill will also be unique in that no other state in USA charges a bike tax. If you care about our state, I call on all intelligent legislators who have families and grandchildren, who care about the future of our state, to stand up today and vote this bill down! You all need to do what is right for NH on this matter. It's our future. Be smart. It affects families negatively and will hurt our economy. Do not pass this bill. It's a huge mistake.
