Clean up our skies!
Opposition Testimony for HB 1128 I oppose HB 1128, which seeks to restrict weather modification technologies, such as cloud seeding, to formally declared drought emergencies. While the bill claims to prioritize environmental oversight and transparency, its emergency-only framework fundamentally undermines proactive responses to the escalating climate crisis. By limiting weather modification practices solely to declared emergencies, this legislation may delay critical interventions that could mitigate devastating weather impacts on agriculture, water resources, and vulnerable communities. In a rapidly changing climate, the need for adaptive strategies is paramount, and restricting such technologies to emergencies signifies a reactive rather than proactive approach. Moreover, the provisions outlined in HB 1128, including a 14-day environmental review and centralized oversight, while well-intentioned, could create bureaucratic hurdles that impede timely action during climate crises. The focus on lengthy reviews and notice requirements may stifle innovative practices that can help communities adapt to and mitigate climate-related challenges. For populations already experiencing the stress of climate impacts, this delay could result in significant economic and social hardships. Rather than imposing restrictive measures, we should be encouraging flexible, science-based approaches to weather modification that enable timely and effective responses to meet the pressing needs of our environment and communities. This bill represents a missed opportunity to fully embrace the potential of technology in addressing climate-related challenges, ultimately failing to serve the best interests of New Hampshire’s residents and ecosystems.
I strongly urge my representatives to vote in support of this bill. We in New Hampshire deserve to have clean skies and water ways. We enjoy such a beautiful state we need to ensure the health of our skies, soil, wildlife and our health as well. Please consider the long term effects of what these seeding companies and or government agencies are doing to our natural resources and our overall health.
It's time to stop any modification of the weather in New Hampshire. Many states are also passing this law. We don't need added chemicals landing in lakes, gardens, and farms in New Hampshire.
I support this bill to end weather modification via Stratospheric aerosol injections. We need to collectively as a nation make a stand to the experiment, that is happening in our skies. The world is watching.
The chemicals being released into the atmosphere for "environmental" purposes are toxic. I do not want them in the air we breathe. I do not want them to settle in the soil we touch and plant our gardens in. I do not want them settling into our water sources. I did not vote to become a science experiment!
I support this bill.
Plan and simple stop spraying the skies with toxins
The cloud seeding needs to stop Now! You are tampering with nature without true understanding of effects it has on the environment/ people/ and animals. I support this bill to stop such insanity! Weather modification has brought enormous concern for the health of humans, and environmental concerns. As a member of NOFA here in NH, I am very concerned about these effects on my organic garden, soil and the animals that are now subject to these chemicals. It needs to stop now… for the future of our NH kids and our beautiful State.
I can see no good from spraying chemicals into our sky's, only harm can come to the people and the animals, no one knows what the short term or long term harm can come from this.
Please clear our air It is causing so much disease contamination memory loss and more, people are leaving our country, it seems like chemical warfare and it is only happening to the Usa. It's wrong and we all know better! It has been going on far too long. I am worried about my children and grandchildren+ the next 7 generations.
We should not be spaying anything into the air in our State. If you research what many of these compounds and chemicals, that are being used, it's scary. Please do your research, before any vote.
I dont support cloud seeding or weather modification for non emergency use.
