I strongly support this bill which would give Social security recipients a 90 day grace period should there be any disruption of their benefits, resulting in their inability to pay their rent. This bill would help prevent people becoming homeless because they are unable to pay their rent through no fault of their own. It would also allow such persons to have time to seek alternative living arrangements should they be unable to restore their previous benefits.

Many people with only social security income do not collect 3.5x any rent amounts in the area. If we get evicted through no fault of our own we will be homeless with no opportunity to qualify for replacement housing.

Please vote for safeguards for tenants whose Social Security payments are disrupted.

Given the tendencies of the current administration, this is a very reasonable, even necessary, safeguard for some of our most vulnerable citizens.

I wholeheartedly support this bill which establishes a 90-day grace period for residential tenants who miss rent payments due to an unexpected interruption in their monthly Social Security benefits. If people in our state suddenly lose their life lines to Social Security, Medicare and/or Medicaid this bill will enable, especially seniors and folks living with disabilities, some extra time to either find other housing or to get their payments reinstated. You as our elected officials are charged with protecting the most vulnerable in our communities and in our state. We, the people, are charged with holding you accountable to, especially, the most vulnerable people in our communities and in our state. I know we are a state that cares deeply about the people who call New Hampshire home. Do the right thing! It's easy!

It is essential to allow seniors the time they need to find alternate housing or the correct whatever error led to an interruption in receiving their Social Security check. There are already ENOUGH HOMELESS PEOPLE! There is no need to add to the problem!

At this stage of my life (I am 81), I depend on Social Security, and I do not want threats to that, or any other emergencies, to prevent me from paying my rent on time. Please vote this bill OTP and do whatever else you can to make sure this bill passes. Thanks.

With the very high cost of rent, I feel it is extremely important that tenants experiencing a disruption in their social security get a 90 day grace period to catch up on rent. If evicted, they are faced with coming up with first and last months rent plus security deposit to get another apartment. This is a monumental sum of money for a lot of people to raise, and some people will end up homeless for a period of time. This includes children. I know this to be a fact as I belong to South Congregational Church and was a regular volunteer for the Cold Weather Shelter we held in our basement for 10 years!! I am now involved with Family Promise, and our church along with Temple Beth Jacob host homeless families with children (mostly mothers and children) 4 times a year for a week at a time. It is very sad to see children being shuffled from church to church because they have nowhere to call home!! This should not be happening in our country!!!

Threats abound that the safety net could be interrupted as those who are elected to serve us fail to do so. That being said, people may find it difficult to maintain rent or mortgage payments. Most especially, seniors and underemployed who pay rent could be facing eviction as a result finding their housing threatened. This legislation would not eliminate the possibility that they might lose their domicile, but it would give them time to make payment arrangements or secure new housing. Even this is a short amount of leeway given the tight housing market in New Hampshire. Please vote to provide this small amount of protection for New Hampshire citizens.

A 90-day grace period is needed to protect renters from overnight evictions when their Soc Sec payments have been delayed.

I strongly support this bill as the challenges being faced currently by social security delays risk the safety of many tenants.

Seniors and people with disabilities should not face eviction due to delayed federal payments. This bill provides humane and necessary protections for vulnerable residents.

This would be a help for Seniors or any family on SS to be able to have time to reinstate their earned check from SS. This is the peoples money not the government. For many to live paycheck to paycheck and still not have enough creates a real problem.

It seems rather foolish to repeal the business entrprise tax when the state faces fiscal challenges. This will increase financial pressure on property poor towns.

No one in NH should be at risk of eviction due to circumstances beyond their control, such as delays in receiving their Social Security checks. Please support an Ought to Pass motion.

With the repeated occurrence of government shutdowns and chaos in various agencies whereby social security payments could be delayed, it is imperative that a grace period be granted who miss rent payments due to these unexpected interruptions.

This bill allows for a grace period of 90 days for senior citizens who do not receive their Social Security check in time to pay their rent. The grace period allows for someone to find other housing or to figure out why they did not receive their check. Please help protect your NH senior citizens, particularly those who depend on their Social Security checks.

This is a thoughtful bill that will support our residents.

We MUST support our family, friends and neighbors when they are forced to make due when our government deprives them of the income they plan for, invested in and deserve. This is a basic right to keep a roof over your head.

At a time when our societal safety net has been shredded at the Federal level, it is imperative that we don't let our NH citizens fall through the cracks. We are better than that!
