Greetings House Environment and Agriculture Committee Members, Along with strong support for this bill for community protection and public engagement regarding the impacts of landfill siting, we thank you for your ongoing care and wisdom in supporting the reform of landfill siting and regulation. Special thanks to the great majority of you who endorsed Rep. Germana's HB 1138 last week to limit the importation of out-of-state trash with all of the toxins it bring to New Hampshire's water, air, soil. Our environment needs critical care!

I believe we should have clean, safe drinking water.

Very important to study something/a project that will have such a large impact on an area, its people, the environment…everything!

I write in strong support of HB1189. The State of New Hampshire desperately needs updated and stronger regulations regarding the siting of landfills, in order to protect our New Hampshire environment, our natural beauty and habitat, our clean water for drinking and recreation, and our tourism based economy -- especially in the North Country. Thank you for supporting HB1189.

Any clearly defined and measurable standards to regulate landfill placement will save us from endless litigation. Hopefully HB 1189 will also monitor, enforce, and adequately penalize any violations of landfill regulations -- many of which seem to have been able to continue. Please find HB1189 OUGHT TO PASS.

I strongly support this bipartisan bill which would improve regulatory oversight, public engagement, and accountability in the management of solid waste disposal facilities. They would assess impacts of proposed major solid waste disposal facilities, including noise, odor, aesthetics and economic impacts not fully addressed in existing regulation. This bill prefers maintaining environmentally protective disposal capacity and expanding existing landfill sites over developing new ones. The committee would have authority to evaluate applications, issue construction certificates, oversee facility operations and address violations with potential fines.

I strongly support this bill as I believe we need to improve regulatory oversight and accountability of management of solid waste disposal facilities. It is critical for our communities health and future safety.

I support this bill because it sets up an independent site evaluation committee for new landfill siting as well as large expansions and it retains local control.

We need an evaluation committee to provide thorough impact analyses on any proposed solid waste facilities to protect our communities and environment.

Protecting our precious environment in NH is more important than profit margins period.

As a resident of Bethlehem I know first hand the problems a landfill can cause on a community and environment. It is important to have a means to analyze the effects on a the property values, environmental , effects on the surrounding neighborhood such as odor and noise. Location needs a lot of consideration. NCES can be seen from people’s homes and from the White Mountain peaks, as well as Cannon Mt. thank you.
