As a mother of middle school children who ride the bus I have witnessed cars driving right through the stop sign of their bus almost daily. Thankfully my children board and exit on the right side of the bus and don’t have to cross the road. But many children at their stop do and there have been some close calls. Honking at them does nothing to deter these unsafe drivers either. I’m also friends with the young girl, Addison’s mother and I remember when she was hit by a motorist crossing the road to her bus. Thankfully she was ok! But Addisons bill would make riding the bus much safer for the young students preventing them from having to cross the unsafe roads!

Worrying about our children being hit by traffic while getting on and off the school bus should never be a concern.

My child is a student at the TRMS and he rides the bus to and from school. His bus stops at the end of our street and my son must cross over a busy street to get onto the bus. The street he crosses has a curve in the road where cars speed around not paying attention,

My children have to cross a very busy street to get to our driveway off their bus. I have personally witnessed on several occasions, people within feet of my child. Under no circumstance should the opportunity to protect the lives of innocent children be overlooked. Safety is the number one job of anyone working with children. Here’s a chance to strengthen that protection. As a teacher and parent I whole heartedly support this bill and urge everyone to do so. If not, you’re just as bad as Epstein.

I have seen first hand how not passing this bill affects innocent pedestrian students and their overall safety in waiting to catch the bus. A great friend to my children was almost killed when a driver failed to stop for the bus. This is a simple way to help fix a much bigger issue, while immediately increasing safety for all children who take the bus to school.

My friend's daughter is Addison. She was hit by a car when getting off the school bus. Children should not have to cross the street when boarding or exiting a school bus.

With so many people driving distracted I think this bill HB 1209 should be made law. Last year I saw my grand daughter in the E R after being hit while crossing the street to get on her school bus, something no grand parent should have to go through. This law would make it much safer for all students getting on a school bus.

In this day of distracted drivers, texting, on the phone, or just plain distracted. by life, this bill is the least we can do to protect our school children. As a grandmother and someone that has seen a child almost run over at the bus stop, we need to pass this bill!

For the safety of our kids please pass this bill.

Please support HB1209. This bill makes sense for the safety of our future leaders, workers, citizens, voters, and professionals. It will be easy to implement. Our children will be safe getting on busses on their way to school. Thank you for supporting HB1209. Judy Lundahl 532 Rt12A Surry, NH
