When my CFO tells me that we need to spending five thousand dollars a year on stationary, I absolutely want to have a report from the relevant departments on whether that's the best approach for the expenditure and the necessary equipment. Don't strip me from being able to get information from the bodies at play.

It is very important for voters to know the collective opinion of the Selectboard when voting on local issues. The Selectboard is invariably more informed on the nuance of the issues being brought before voters. I oppose this bill.
I oppose this bill on principle for the good of NH voters.
Removing recommendations reduces transparency and makes it harder for voters to make informed decisions about local governance and tax measures.
Dear Honorable Chair and Committee Members, Writing as an enthusiastic participant in town meeting, a town Conservation Commissioner, and appointee to the town ZBA, I need to know in writing and in real time, the impact of a warrant article on our town. I rely on the Select Board’s opinion for guidance. They serve our town during the best and worst times, understand our budget constraints and which expenses are emergent and which can be delayed. This bill disenfranchises citizens by depriving them of the good work that would otherwise be done on their behalf by town officials. Vote ITL on HB 1392.
The existing law needs to remain, as is. It is very important to include the vote (an opinion) of the appropriate governing body/ budget committee. It contributes to a more informed electorate.
