The American Federation of Teachers opposes this bill because the state sets the curriculums frameworks - which are basic guidelines for what any curriculum must cover to meet state standards - but the local school board selects and adopts curriculum to meet those standards. The local school board is responsible to make sure it is providing opportunities to all students in the public school to build a successful life post graduation. Not all students are on the same pathway for after graduation: some are preparing for college, some ane looking for immediately useable work skills, some are heading into the service, some are still trying to find their pathway. If lectures, lesson plans, or other educational materials provided by the World Economic Forum are useful to help students prepare for participation in an increasingly golbalized economy on any of those pathways, the locally elected school board must be able to go through their process of adopting them and then make use of them in the public schools.
