This is long overdue. I spent almost 30 years in uniform and watched the negative effects of this play out all the time. Spend enough time around military families and the cruel joke of a spouse being 'vested' in a servicemember's pension goes from whispered amongst friends to reality. Sure a military spouse may give up a little bit by forcing them into certain portable careers, forcing them to move, and occasionally forcing them to be single parents while the spouse is deployed, but they ARE NOT the person in uniform who is truly sacrificing and earning that pension. This is a good bill which supports our military members, and I'd like to thank the sponsors for bringing it forward.
