The testimony and discussion today raised legitimate concerns about whether funds designated for 911 are being used as intended. I support this bill because it improves oversight and helps ensure those funds are properly allocated so 911 remain reliable and effective.
Reliable 911 services are a core public good. Any changes to this fund should ensure revenues are protected and used solely for emergency communications.
This bill to protect the use of emergency funds for emergency purposes upholds a core principle of good government: responsible management. The Department of Safety needs to be accountable for its use of resources. Please vote HB 1777 OTP.
I cannot support any legislation that restricts funds to the 911 system in any way.
