Reasons to support HB 1823: ? Transparency: Ensures public access to independent financial audits so taxpayers and parents can see where education dollars are going. ? Accountability: Regular audits could help catch financial issues early and improve fiscal responsibility. ? Public confidence: Posting audit results publicly helps build trust in how schools manage funds.

AFT-NH supports this bill to give locally elected school boards and school administrators the accurate information they need to oversee the revenue and spending in their school districts. Having a good handle on the finances allows a well run district to focus on student learning while avoiding most disruptions. It also gives taxpayers the information they need to make informed decisions come annual meeting time. This is needed for good governance.

Independent financial audits and transparency of financial decisions with our educational institutions must be made regularly and made publicly available.

They just could not resist burying "diversity" and "equity" in the text. Deal breaker.
