Support HB 1835 Any change to the school aid formula must reflect the real cost of educating students and reduce disparities between communities—not shift more burden onto local property taxpayers.
I support this bill strongly! Because of the changes in national Department of Education, funding for students with disabilities has been reduced in many districts causing local taxpayers to bear the brunt of the cost. SpEd is a mandated program to educate children with disabilities. The state should guarantee 80% reimbursement to school districts for the actual cost of special education services so that a child can receive the services needed equally in every town and city in the state.
