I support HB 569. This bill would enable two or more communities or one county to establish a county-wide communications district. The lack of rural broadband access in New Hampshire has hindered economic development, particularly in rural areas. Without reliable, high-speed internet infrastructure, businesses in these areas may struggle to compete with those in more urban and connected regions. The lack of broadband can limit their ability to attract customers, reach new markets, and efficiently conduct online transactions. Additionally, the lack of broadband access limits educational and job opportunities for residents in these communities, further hindering overall economic growth. HB 569 is cost-effective and enables communities to expand broadband access by establishing a community planning district. This district would identify gaps in broadband coverage and infrastructure and develop plans to improve access. I urge you to pass HB 569. Thank you. 10 submissionsI am Rick Hiland, Albany NH Selectman & Albany Rep to the Carroll County Communications District, and I think that this is repetitious legislation. RSA 53-G already allows for a county wide communications district. There is nothing that prevents county commissioners from organizing and starting work toward a county wide communications district in the current RSA. What exactly is accomplished with this legislation?? Please explain to me. Thank you, Rick
