Search and rescue operations should be billed at cost to the users; users of Fish & Game search and rescue have put themselves in jeopardy, not comparable to normal ambulance services (which get billed back anyway)
I support this bill
This is a good bill. NHF&G are needed more and more to rescue inexperienced and/or unprepared hikers. The HikeSafe card isn't enough. If F&G personnel are called for these rescues, other areas suffer. They should have all the tools necessary to effect these rescues.
I support this bill that would grant NHFG additional resources for Search and Rescue efforts.
The burden of search and rescue costs should be upon the one who needed the rescuing, not the taxpayers of the State of NH. This bill is allowing for the risky actions of a few to increase the burden of the many. While some rescues are for a disabled person or lost child, I would suspect the large amount of cost incurred are related to people making poor decisions. These people should be forced to repay the cost of their rescue which would likely offset the need for this new expense. My understanding is that it is rare for a rescued individual to actually be billed for the fill cost of the search and rescue, this is what needs to change.
It’s vital that we create a sustainable funding source for search & rescue operations without straining NHFG’s budget and taking resources away from important wildlife work. This bill is a step in the right direction.
I strongly support this bill to increase funding for the New Hampshire Fish and Game Search and Rescue Operations. Vital Public Service: Fish and Game Search and Rescue provides an invaluable public service, often responding to dangerous and challenging situations in remote and rugged terrain. Underfunded Heroes: These dedicated volunteers and professionals risk their own safety to rescue hikers, hunters, boaters, and others in distress. They deserve adequate resources to carry out their critical mission effectively. Improved Safety and Efficiency: Increased funding would allow for: Enhanced training and equipment: Providing rescuers with the best possible training and the latest in search and rescue technology. Improved communication and coordination: Enhancing communication and coordination between agencies involved in search and rescue operations. Increased staffing levels: Ensuring adequate staffing to respond to emergencies quickly and efficiently. Investing in Fish and Game Search and Rescue is an investment in public safety and the well-being of our communities. This can also lead to more tourism in our White Mountains. Visitors will know that NH is known for their safety and investment in the their wellbeing. With more Tourism this can lead to economic stability in the north part of the state. Thank you for considering.
