I enthusiastically support the naming of the trail bridge over Route 101 (currently referred to as South Bridge) in the City of Keene to the "Charles Redfern Bridge." For decades, Charles "Chuck" Redfern has been a positive and active force for promoting and fundraising for the bike and walking trails in and around Keene. While serving as a Keene City Councilor, I had the pleasure of hearing Chuck testify in support of multiple bike and walking trail projects. Chuck also served as an alternate on the City of Keene’s Energy and Climate Committee to which I was the official City Council member who served on that same standing committee. Chuck himself is a former Keene City Councilor and continues to weigh in proactively and constructively on several salient City of Keene issues. Chuck also has a reputation of being 'supportive' of others' good ideas and efforts to improve the City of Keene and the Monadnock Region. His reputation as a benevolent force 'spans' the area. Since the essential functions of bridge includes both spanning and supporting, the bridge is a perfect metaphor for Chuck's significant impact. This bridge supports the bike and walking trail that many people use and enjoy, so naming it the Charles Redfern Bridge is particularly apropos. It would be marvelous for us and the multitudes of bridge users to see his name there and remember how Chuck always supports us.

Chuck is always working hard to ensure our trails are connected and taken care of. He has long-since earned this honor.

Chuck's a fabulous man. He's fought hard for a lot of this stuff, he deserves the credit and recognition. This is a great idea!

I have known Charles (Chuck) Redfin for many years since he helped to start the New Hampshire Rail Trail Coalition. His efforts have provided so much for his community of Keene in many ways including those that cycle and walk across the bridge that should bear his name! We all have benefitted from his hands on efforts AND his moral support of the many projects he has been in over many years. Please recognize Mr. Redfin by putting his name on the bridge he helped to acquire for his community and those that use it!

Charles "Chuck' Redfern has worked for years with numerous local and state organizations to connect the downtown portion of the Keene rail trail to the rest of the Cheshire trail. This bridge over Rte. 101 is key.

I support honoring Chuck Redfern by naming the South Bridge after him. Naming the bridge for Chuck is a great way to recognize all he has done for Keene, including establishing its many miles of scenic trail systems enjoyed for recreation and off-road transportation for cyclists and walkers. I look forward to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!

I am writing in support of HB 745, please approve promptly. This honor is so deserved! The prosperity of Keene as well of the surrounding towns and region has been and will be greatly enhanced by this rail trail network. The network went from zero to 73 miles over the past thirty years. Mr. Redfern was the prime mover in beginning the work. His dedication and relentless effort started the necessary fundraising, which only later evolved to a public-private partnership. His work continues today with his involvement in promoting, maintaining, financing, and improving the trails system. His work and talents are known state-wide.
