Why was Strafford County excluded by the NH House, Senate and Governor when the bill was passed in 2023? Was there a reason the legislature and governor at the time wanted to exclude Strafford County? Or are the folks in Concord just not reading the bills before they vote?

This is common sense legislation and should be supported by all house members.

This fixes an oversight in the original bill. I want support only from within each district to determine their commissioner.

Carol PetrusewiczSupportRochester, NHfor MyselfJan 13, 2025

It has always been precedent that in order to serve in any elected position, you must reside in that area that you will be representing. Please pass this legislation to correct the oversight. You should make this effective for BOTH the next election AND if a position become available now. Thank you!

It is imperative that an individual running for a County Commissioner seat reside in the district they are running for. That is the only way to ensure we are getting the proper representation for each district within the county.

This bill corrects the error of omission of needing to be domiciled in the district for Commissioner of Strafford County and added to RSA 655:9.

Carlton CooperSupportRochester, NHfor MyselfJan 13, 2025

This bill should pass to correct the current bill ensuring that commissioners are domiciled in the district they represent.
