This is an important bill that will go a long way to protect our lakes and groundwater

Dear Members of the Environment and Agriculture Committee: Thank you for accepting these comments from the Society for the Protection of NH Forests regarding Amendment 2025-2012h to to SB 302-FN. Specifically, the Forest Society supports 149-M:86 II on page 16 of the amendment. The three-year moratorium will give ample time for the Legislature and other stakeholders to form the proposed landfill site evaluation committee, create its duties and be prepared to hear any applications. We also are hopeful the State will meet the requirement (RSA 149:M-2) to reduce the amount of solid waste going to landfills by 25% by the year 2030. Second, we support the proposed language establishing the Solid Waste Facility Site Evaluation Committee. Both of these sections in the amendment represent reasonable and prudent steps to ensure that any future landfill development is informed by updated regulations, data, technologies, and policies that reflect modern best practices in waste management and environmental protection. Dear House E&A Committee Members, We know your are all very familiar and largely favorable toward the necessity of the provisions in the proposed non-germane Amendment #2025-2012h to SB 302-FN— to establish the solid waste facility site evaluation committee, require major solid waste disposal facilities to be certified by the solid waste facility site evaluation committee, and temporarily suspend the issuance of solid waste permits by the department of environmental services. The Granite State is awash in out of state trash - we need stronger oversight of solid waste facilities and a Department of Environmental Services that cares more about NH's environment than it does polluting industries.

I firmly believe that NH should not be the Garbage Can for other New England States. Private Corporations are making huge profits while they are destroying the Environment and Natural Beauty of our Granite state. THIS MUST STOP!! I fully support this bill and its amendments that seeks to control the corporations and NH DES, NH belongs to its people, not the businesses and bureaucrats, who only see profits for themselves!

re amendment #2025-2012H -- This amendment is a move in the right direction to have more oversight of solid waste facilities.

After spending several years working for Casella Waste Management I’ve seen and learned first hand the importance of holding company’s accountable that want to take advantage of New Hampshire’s Forests and Wildlife as well as New England overall. The power has gone straight to their heads and they think they’re unstoppable. That ignorance makes for laziness in day to day operations and the corporate greed for money means over looking necessary regulations and requirements that the state should be doing better to reinforce. The state also needs to take more accountability in supervising and scrutinizing said business other than a photo opportunity in the local paper. It’s time to stand up and protect our state from monopolies.
