This bill will drive people away from public safety, and prevent enforcement of the laws of the state and create undue burden that great cost for a little reward for a problem that really does not exist. I do not support bills of this nature that do not benefit the people of New Hampshire. It will make life worse for women and children in New Hampshire.. I oppose it.

I oppose this senate bill. We the people of NH need to be able to have the freedom to protect ourselves and others!

What is the NH Legislature doing telling local governments what to do? Where is "local control"?

Our police and town officials need to focus on their own jobs, not the jobs of ICE

When the President has masked men handcuff a Fulbright scholar and put her into an unmarked van and defy a judge's order to not remove her from the state; when people arre being swept up without charge, with no public record kept, shackled, and put in foreign prisons, and so are made to disappear; when the President breaks the law, towns and cities have a duty to uphold it by countering such "enforcement."

I support local control. I oppose unfunded mandates. For these reasons, I oppose SB 62.

The current administration is doing unlawful things with regard to ICE. We are disappearing people to other countries without due process and sweeping up individuals who are here legally or who are US citizens. We need to maintain the capacity to state that NH will not participate in unconstitutional and disgraceful actions

I oppose this bill. If this bill Is adopted, it would set up a program where local law enforcement would collaborate with federal immigration authorities in enforcing immigration laws. I do not want NH to become a police state.

There are too many factors to be considered in these cases to set a fixed sentence. This bill removes the judgement factpor that we expect our judges to apply, and could force them to sentence unjustly.

I strongly oppose this bill. I do not want law enforcement engaged in any way with federal immigration. Their job is to do community police work not deport people who pay taxes and work hard.

Dear Criminal Justice Committee Members, The tactics and actions of ICE staff in multiple instances DO NOT comport with what we were told by the President, DHS and CBP would be their motivating principles and legal bases for detaining and deporting. We are being deceived and manipulated, and individuals well outside the scope of what they said would be their operation are having their rights violated every day. Spokespersons like Marco Rubio tell us pretty much the truth: that they are implementing extra-judicial extractions - illegal according to many Constitutional Law experts - because they feel grievance over non-citizens having the integrity of conviction to express their thoughts in the belief - tragically no longer true - that they were within a right by law, here in this country, to do so. I cannot fathom how we have come to this on the eve of our nation's 250th birthday. And I am praying that my home, my beloved New Hampshire, will choose NOT to support this outrageous, morally bankrupt behavior. Please take time to rethink your original intentions in creating these kinds of bills, versus what is actually happening across the country. What in the world has happened to one of the hallmarks of our democracy - innocent until proven guilty? Do we now have only the powerful few decide who has the unalienable rights of life and liberty? Is this our future - is this what you want for your children and grandchildren? PLEASE do not accept this. PLEASE vote SB62 and SB72 ITL. Thank you.

I don’t want to live in a police state. Let’s have local laws caring for everyone.

This bill will pit parents and educators against one another. There are already lines of communication open to parents in each school system. This bill will make the school systems a battle field.

I oppose this bill because I oppose having the federal government, dictate how law enforcement in any state should function. I think local law enforcement should concentrate on local law enforcement and public safety.

As a retired law enforcement officer I oppose this bill as it may place yet another demand on law enforcement agencies within the state that are faced with severe understaffing as well as a lack of applicants. Enforcement of any federal laws is something local and state agencies never had nor wanted primary jurisdiction. In addition, this level of cooperation places another burden of taxpayers who may be called to support an elevated level of police services, a purpose for which they may wish not to pay.

I do not want local law enforcement to collaborate with federal immigration authorities in enforcing immigration laws. That seems to be a step toward a police state. I oppose having the federal government dictate how law enforcement in any state should function.

Fuck ICE disappearing people like they're the gestapo, in 2025. Fuck everything about that. Any local municipal resistance has my backing.

We are fortunate to have a somewhat diverse community in our great State. Immigrants contribute greatly to our economy and our society. I do not want my tax dollars being used by NH authorities to assist ICE and other federal authorities in apprehending immigrants for non-violent crimes. Please vote against this legislation.

Another Trump-generated intrusion to our citizens' lives. Are there no serious, sensible Republicans left in NH?

I oppose using local law enforcement resources and taxpayers' money to fund what is supposed to be the responsibility of the federal government. With a fiscal crisis on hand, the last thing we should be doing is diluting our resources further. I am furthermore alarmed at the egregious mistakes federal ICE officials appear to be making in their arrests and deportations. NH should steer clear of this horrible mess.

The 287(g) program is already a misuse of state funds. Subsubdizing ineffective federal programs with state taxpayer money is foolish. In addition, stripping local communities of the power for decisions around what their law enforcement employees spend time and energy on completely ignores local issues, and the many existing problems already present. I oppose all elements of this bill, and any attempt to force co-operation with federal agencies via local tax dollars and law enforcement agencies that could be better spent on real local problems.

The 287(g) program is itself a disgusting misuse of state funds. We need to be using our funds for the good of New Hampshire, not subsidizing wasteful federal programs. But preventing communities from making their own decisions about what their law enforcement employees should be working on? What ever happened to live free or die?

I believe that in order to guarantee public safety, our NH police force should NOT be hunting down immigrants. This will color our police as ICE agents and many members of the community will shy away from reporting crimes and injustices if they do not hold confidence in local law enforcement officers. Let the federal government do its job and hold local police to do their job. I ask that you vote AGAINST this bill.

Any bill along these lines does little more than undermine the strength of New Hampshire's police force and erodes the relationships and bonds of trust that our police form with the communities. Are we supposed to trust police officers, knowing at any moment they could be called upon to forcibly detain our friends, our coworkers, our neighbors, our family members, our community members? For a group that always seems to champion state's rights, it seems that many Republican legislators are all too willing to throw that belief away when it means they can cause harm to push forward an agenda that will only cause harm and destroy any faith the citizens of New Hampshire should have in the police.
